SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – During its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics announced the eighth generation of its foldable smartphones, unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology giant enhanced physical designs, incorporated upgraded camera configurations, and integrated artificial intelligence features into all three devices. The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs only 201 grams and features a new design that makes it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone ever produced by the manufacturer. Its cover screen boasts a 10:16 aspect ratio while the main display uses a 4:3 ratio. These configurations allow optimal viewing for various activities such as browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy along with a 4,800 mAh battery, the device aims for high performance.

To improve structural robustness while minimizing thickness, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure specifically for premium folding models. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb impact forces, evenly distribute mechanical tension, and lessen visible creasing over many fold cycles. Adjustments to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension were made to ensure smoother opening movements. Additionally, a low-reflection finish enhances outdoor visibility by preserving color vibrancy even under bright ambient lighting.

Enhanced Hardware Features and Productivity Enhancements

The top-tier Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra broadens its display options with an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen along with a 6.5-inch cover screen. Created for intensive multitasking and media production tasks, this model incorporates a 200-megapixel primary sensor with High Dynamic Range capabilities alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto module. It supports professional-grade video recording in 8K using the APV codec as well as Cine LUT color management tools tailored for advanced editing workflows.

Internally, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra includes an expanded graphite cooling system engineered to handle thermal dissipation during demanding computational use. Its power source is a dual-cell battery of 5,000 mAh supported by fast-charging architecture delivering up to 45W across two paths to efficiently charge each cell. Performance-wise, users can select configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage running on One UI 9 based on Android 17 platform.

    Software Advancements and Market Introduction

Alongside these larger foldables, Samsung revealed the compact Galaxy Z Flip8 clamshell phone measuring just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded with a weight of only180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display complemented by a larger6..9-inch main screen,a primary camera capable of capturing50-megapixels,and abattery capacityof4300mAh.All three devices incorporate software enhancements like agentic AI tools developed together with Google including Gemini Intelligence , Now Brief, and Now Nudge. These automate background workflows, summarize complex files, and improve app navigation across all models.

Availability for purchase begins immediately after pre-orders open following the Unpacked event, the official retail launch scheduled for August7 ,2026.Pricing starts at$1 ,899 .99for the basicGalaxy Z Fold8,and hardware costsfor theUltraandFlip8models are adjusted regionally. The launch underscores Samsung’s strategyto boost adoptionof foldablesin both consumerandenterprise markets worldwide.
