EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have formalized a five-year wheat procurement deal valued at up to US$500 million. This agreement transitions a 2023 financing plan into an operational import arrangement for Egypt. Al Dahra will deliver imported wheat to GASC, supported by financing from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The pact defines the purchase process under that existing program.

The signing occurred at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers building in El Alamein on August 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also chairs GASC, present at the event. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. The release did not specify wheat shipment quantities, delivery dates, origins, or the pricing method for the purchases made under this agreement.
This financing structure was established in August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities introduced a revolving wheat import program. The program was initially set at US$100 million, with annual renewals over five years, and a maximum total of US$500 million. The original arrangement included Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance alongside GASC. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operational foundation for GASC’s wheat acquisitions from Al Dahra via the financing scheme.
2023 financing plan transitions into active operation
ADEX functions as the export-financing division of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offering funding linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office announced that its Egypt facility would cover wheat and other vital commodities supplied via Al Dahra. The financing framework established a five-year transaction structure with GASC. The current agreement sustains that structure while outlining the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has been active within Egypt, managing agricultural operations in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating roughly 28,000 hectares across the country. Additionally, it stated that over the past three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government. Recently, Al Dahra indicated that its broader agricultural platform now reaches more than 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian presence dates back to 2007
The agreement signed in August 2026 primarily covers imported wheat, although Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities domestically. In 2023, it identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn, with approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm output entering local markets at that time. This new pact pertains specifically to imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, rather than a separate US$500 million financing arrangement.
The five-year deal enacts the financing plan announced three years earlier, avoiding the creation of a second US$500 million facility. Neither Al Dahra nor GASC has disclosed the total wheat tonnage covered by this agreement, nor have they provided details on annual shipment schedules, supplier origins, or pricing formulas. As of August 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year wheat import program valued at up to US$500 million, financed through ADEX.
